What happens when?

Your Onboarding timeline may be more slowly paced or super accelerated, depending on how far away your Arrival Day is. Take a look below at the general structure of your Onboarding journey.

ONBOARDING STRUCTURE

Upon your initial down payment...

  • You now have your own dedicated Onboarding Team who you can chat with via welcome@remoteyear.com.
  • Get access to this Premote Hub and start exploring the wide variety of prep resources.
    • If you don't have a Gmail account, you'll need to create one to access this hub and other RY platforms.
  • Keep an eye on your inbox each Wednesday for a weekly Premote Prep email newsletter.
  • Start signing on to Premote Webinars.

Three months before Arrival Day...

  • You'll start receiving a weekly Premote Prep email with suggested items to check off your to-do list, like visa and passport logistics or medical precautions. Expect these reminders in your inbox at the beginning of each week to keep you on track before your departure.

At least two months before Arrival Day...

  • Sign on to Remote Nation Slack and virtually get to know your community. This also gives you access to current Remotes and Citizens (alumni) and a Slack channel focused on anything and everything Remote Year prep.

**Slack access may come earlier than two months prior to Arrival Day. We launch it as soon as it's possible to open up your community to one another!

A few weeks before Arrival Day...

  • Meet your fellow travelers on your "New Community, Who 'Dis" webinar to discuss what you're hoping to experience during your Remote Year, and learn more about the group of humans you'll be living and working alongside.

**This webinar will be one month before Arrival Day.
  • Sign on your community's "Experience" webinar, during which you'll meet your Program Leader and the City Team from your first itinerary destination and learn more about Remote Year programming and experiences.

**This webinar will be held two to three weeks before Arrival Day depending on the length of your RY program.
  • The Onboarding Team hands off most communications to your Program Leader, and you bid a bittersweet farewell to welcome@remoteyear.com.
  • Set up your account through which you'll pay your monthly Remote Year bill with the help of an instructional email from the Finance Team.

One week before Arrival Day...

  • Mark your first Remote Year address in Google Maps after you receive the details of your new home, including the exact location and the names of your flatmate(s).
  • Explore the Marketplace, submitting your preferences for Local Experience Track events, purchasing any interesting Plus Events or Side Trips.
  • Take a screenshot of the email you receive from the Travel Team (travel@remoteyear.com), which has the details for you exit confirmation from your first RY country—you may be asked for this when checking in to your initial flight.
